The partners of the “Play Volleyball – Grow with it 2.0” project came together on Friday for a plenary, productive meeting in Romania’s capital Bucharest – with the attendees including representatives of the CEV, the National Volleyball Federations of Austria, Iceland, Ireland, and Romania – plus the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS), the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) and the Macedonian Society of Penology (MSP).

The DSHS shared the final draft version of the educational programme specifically produced for the project. The consortium analysed the draft and had interesting discussions on how to adjust it and make it as helpful and useful as possible for the physical education teachers and coaches who will have to work with it. The content was confirmed, and the next step will be to start production of the relevant handbook and video material.

EOSE, on the other hand, presented their draft of the evaluation questionnaire and collected feedback from the partners about this document. The next steps will be to design the survey and translate it into the local languages of the partner countries to reach out to a maximum of practitioners within the territories of the partner National Federations.

Moreover, productive discussions between MSP and the other partners revolved around the production of a Safeguarding Guidelines document. The consortium highlighted the importance of focusing mainly on teachers, coaches, and parents. The consortium also agreed that there will be a possibility to link this document with other existing programmes run by other organisations and focussing on safeguarding policies as well. This document is planned to be finalised by the end of 2024.

The “Play Volleyball – Grow with it 2.0” programme follows on the success of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ co-financed and supported by the Erasmus+ fund – whereby Volleyball is being introduced at schools across as many as 27 European countries.
